DXF pattern layout and full-size printing with G-WORK
G-WORK is a free browser tool for garment DXF patterns. Import patterns, arrange them on fabric, compare fabric utilization, and print full-size tiles on A4, A3, A2, A1, A0, Letter or custom paper. Printer and driver support varies. Pattern processing runs locally on your device.
What you can do
- Import multiple DXF files and find pieces by file or pattern name.
- Set fabric width and quantities, run automatic layout, and inspect marker length and fabric utilization.
- Save and reopen local project files. Print individual patterns or the full marker on selectable paper sizes. Estimate fabric quantity and cost from the selected marker.
- Set each piece's quantity, size label and mirrored pair. Preserved notches and internal markings follow the piece into layout and A4 output.
Getting started
- Open G-WORK and select your DXF files.
- Check pattern quantities and fabric width, then run automatic layout.
- Review the result, save the project, and choose a paper size supported by your printer. Print at 100% scale and check the printed measurements before cutting.

Frequently asked questions
Are my DXF files uploaded?
No. DXF parsing, layout calculations and print tiling run in your browser. Your pattern files are not uploaded to G-WORK servers. The browser downloads application files and processing libraries to run the tool.
Which DXF patterns can I import?
G-WORK supports geometry including LINE, LWPOLYLINE, POLYLINE, ARC, CIRCLE, ELLIPSE and SPLINE, and processes some INSERT blocks. Not all AAMA/ASTM or vendor-specific annotations are supported; unsupported or ambiguous elements require review. Curves are approximated, and non-planar or self-intersecting outlines are rejected. Compare imported pieces, dimensions and markings with your original file before cutting.
How are DXF units interpreted?
The import reads supported DXF unit information and converts it to millimetres; you can also choose mm, cm, inch or m. When units are missing or unsupported, G-WORK assumes millimetres and warns you. Always check a known dimension and the import warnings.
How is estimated fabric quantity calculated?
The selected marker length is multiplied by the number of plies, then increased by your chosen allowance. The marker already includes its configured pattern quantities. Defects, shrinkage, lay-end losses, tax and delivery are not automatically calculated; check your allowance and order quantity against actual conditions.
Is G-WORK free?
The core browser features are free. Developer support is voluntary and does not unlock or restrict features.
Can I use a phone or tablet?
The core workflow supports modern desktop and mobile browsers. Large files and complex layouts may take longer on mobile devices.
How do I assemble A4 pages?
For the full marker, follow the page numbers from top to bottom in the left column, then continue with the next column to the right. Match the printed alignment marks. Grainline arrows indicate fabric grain direction.
Can I recover work after reloading?
G-WORK automatically saves settled changes in this browser and offers recovery when you reopen it. This does not sync across devices. Clearing browser site data removes the saved work; download a project file for a portable backup.
Do size and pair settings change the pattern?
A size is a label, not automatic grading. A mirrored pair creates the original and its reflection. Check the imported dimensions and preserved markings before cutting; unsupported or ambiguous DXF details are reported for review.
